Wish List Finaled in GH Paranormal!
The answering machine took the call at 6 p.m., which was fortunate, as I made a complete dork of myself as soon as I heard “Romance Writers of America®.” There was jumping involved, and also squealing and bawling.
I am so not a jumper and squealer and bawler. After nearly six months of fatalism (see my epic poem of doom for details), I guess I just snapped.
Here is the official RWA GH Finalist page to confirm I’m not hallucinating.
Also, the partial in my judging packet that I fiercely wanted to finish reading also finaled (wish I could give it a better rah-rah, but I’m askeert of violating the “thou shalt not speaketh of it” part of the judge’s creed), so it’s been a sweet day all around.

Atta girl!
And to think, just Monday you were all “it’s too cluttered” and “I need to do a rewrite.”
Wank.

It is too cluttered and I do need to do a rewrite before I send it to anyone else with that spiffy new line in the query about it being a “Golden Heart finalist.” I’ve been away from it long enough that I can be brutal. *hacks with sword–while crooning endearments*

She lives!
Thank you, thank you.
Now get back to work, young lady.

Mega congrats!!!!! That is fabulous news.
And nice of ‘em to make you wait until 6pm. Geez.

You know, I had a pang maybe twice as I watched other people report in, but I was so dead certain I wouldn’t get a call, I wasn’t exactly biting my nails over it all day.
Maybe that’s why I cracked when it came–it was as unexpected as winning Publisher’s Clearing House…

Proud of you, runt. Anytime you need to hear your dialogue live, it would be an honor to be all the girls again. //sigh//

Be still my heart, a visit from Mr. Perfect!
Only you, pipsqueak, are secure enough in your masculinity to be that in touch with your feminine side.

I touch my feminine side all the time. It has watermelon-sized knockers.
You do see the irony that in this triumph, you lose our bet. Mwahahaha.

Ack! Look away!
*peforms blog-wide delete of every mention of secret love for previous commenter*
Honey, I never agree to a bet I don’t win either way. MwahahahaHAHA.

Congrats, from a finalist in another category!
Honestly, I never saw the rules for judging where it said you couldn’t talk to anyone else. And I sent an e-mail to someone I judged after googling her, telling her I loved it. Oops!

Back atcha, Ms. Milan. ;)
Okay, upon closer inspection, it says “hold all scores in confidence,” so I can rah-rah all I want about Money, Honey by Susan Seyfarth. The 50 pages I read were better than many of the published books I’ve read recently and left me wanting more. I will be very surprised if it doesn’t get snatched up by a publisher right quick.
(I work in medicine. Anytime anything remotely resembling a confidentiality issue arises, it’s DEFCON 1, so I always err on the side of covering my ass…)

Best news I’ve heard in a week. Congratulations!

Muchas gracias.
Although, as I delve into rewrites, I wonder if I captured the pity vote. I pulled too many punches and tried to compensate for the lack of KOs with an overabundance of girly slaps that distract more than they make any real impact. Maybe that wasn’t obvious in the first 50 pages, but no way it’ll hold up on a full ms review.
:~ Hey, pessimism worked for me the last time…
