WWIR: September 7 through September 13, 2008

MC-1: Hero asked heroine for something in Chapter One. Heroine adamantly refused because she (rightly) doesn’t trust him as far as she can spit. Had “AHA!” moment about how he gets his way, successfully putting him in her vicinity (his Goal B), but man, will it piss her off (obstacle to his Goal C). Still having a lot of fun. Finished Chapter Five in spite of Virtual Villagers 3, the latest Darkyn book, nightly skirmishes over 3 hours of homework, and the Crackly Joints of Doom. Will cover the aforementioned “AHA!” in Chapter Six.

Not Painting Myself into Another Series Corner: After finishing MC-1 and sending it out into the world to see how it fares, rather than working on MC-2 (an exercise in futility if MC-1 fares poorly—learned my lesson there…), I can go back to working on SC-1 (paranormal with what appears to be unused woo-woo element, at least in romance), which could then possibly be ready to send out into the world by the time MC-1 comes limping home (*puts on Pollyanna hat*) meets with glorious success!

  1. K@ is SO pretty.

I always like it when things flow the way you want them to. Pretty damn spectacular. I really hope that I get to read MC-1 or SC-1 soon. ;)

  2. Kerry Allen is SO pretty.

Maybe because it was all around a bad week or maybe because I’m just losing momentum, it’s not as polished as the first few chapters. The framework is there, though, so I’m forging ahead before I get bogged down. Too much futzing at this point and writing gets to be a chore, which is the beginning of the end with me. If I wanted to spend my free time working, I’d be trying to remove cranapple juice stains from every surface in my kitchen…

  3. Trish is SO pretty.

How was that Darkyn book, by the way?

Not my favorite in the series. I’ve suspected since the second or third book that the Brethren actually created the Darkyn (either trying to kill the Templars or trying to make them super warriors—I don’t pretend to understand the motivation of religious zealots), so it was set up in advance that they were screwing around in that arena, but Liling and her history seemed, to some extent, to come out of nowhere. I’ll read them all in order when Rob arrives and see if I missed the tether, but this particular book felt like a bit of a stray to me.

And I was never a fan of Valentin (all brood, no action), so I was more interested in The Ongoing Saga than the romance aspect.

Viehl’s writing is as sharp as ever, so it’s worth reading. Just not my favorite.
