It’s not that I’m not writing every day…

… it’s that I’m not writing productively.

I should be editing BTD, but I can’t carry it around and whip it out and get anything accomplished in 3-minute spurts.

I should be working on SC-1, which is going to end up being the next novel-length thing I write because I am SO in the zone for a soulless-minion-of-evil heroine right now, but I need to commit to it, which I also can’t do in 3-minute spurts.

But I do carry around my notebook. I scribble new scenes (by which I mean dialogue with scant stage direction). I make notes to reinforce tone and themes, which is where the albatross in question fell apart before (a piece that has become increasingly dark with each rewrite but never quite shed the residue of its comedic beginning, and the combination made it wobble all over the place—that’s not to say I’m even capable of ridding it of humor, but being mindful of the dark tone and heavy themes, it’ll be gallows humor as opposed to comedy-of-errors humor).

For some reason (like, me being the Princess of Avoidance, perhaps?), it’s just easier to pick away at the far-off-future project than to pick at what I should be doing.

I’ve always had a fantasy that my disorganized, dozen-projects-at-once, ADD approach will eventually provide me with a stockpile of finished work and grant me some breathing room.
